Preview: Fight Back the Storm - TTRPG Dark Urban Fantasy

Our flagship show, the Tabletop Revolution (TTR) audio podcast, is coming soon, and we want to tell you about one of the campaigns that inspired us to form TTR in the first place: FIGHT BACK THE STORM!

“Fight Back the Storm” is a dark urban fantasy story, using Magpie Games’s Urban Shadows system. Our story is set in an alternate fantasy San Francisco Bay Area, where powerful magic, conniving fae courts, and restless vampires share a world with greedy tech CEOs and opportunistic politicians. Climate change has driven many beings of the supernatural world to near extinction, paramilitary kidnappings and violence are increasingly commonplace, and and the ruthless pursuit of money at any cost has made life harder for everyone but a select few of the very wealthiest individuals. Sadly, it’s not too hard to see the parallels to our own world in this alternate dystopia.

Yes, the night is dark…but there is hope.

Into these troubling times step a knight of the fae Winter Court, a human freed from the clutches of their demonic overlord, a melancholy vampire who seeks a different path from his family’s bloody legacy, and a powerful wizard who’s created an entirely new sphere of magic itself.

We made this story because we wanted to plumb the vulnerable depths of what it means to survive (and even overcome) in an era of repression, authoritarianism, and darkness.

To tackle this incredible, powerful challenge, we brought on an amazing cast! Meet the cast behind “Fight Back the Storm:”
